Harmonized inflation comes in at highest level since our records began
Consumer prices increased 0.27% from the previous month in July, coming in below the 0.74% rise recorded in June. July's result marked the weakest reading since January. Looking at the details of the release, prices for manufactured products decreased at a faster rate, while prices for energy dropped.
Harmonized inflation inched up to 6.8% in July, slightly above June’s 6.5%. July's figure was the highest inflation rate since current records began. Annual average harmonized inflation rose to 4.4% in July (June: 3.9%). Lastly, consumer price inflation rose to 6.1% in July, picking up from the previous month's 5.8%.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project harmonized inflation averaging 5.6% in 2022, which is up 0.3 percentage points from last month’s estimate, and 3.1% in 2023.
