Inflation comes in at highest level since January 2013 in July

Consumer prices rose 1.00% from the previous month in July, coming in below the 1.62% increase recorded in June. The print came on the back of a drop in food and non-alcoholic beverages prices, partly offsetting a notable pick up in transport and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels prices.

Meanwhile, inflation rise from 11.9% in June to 12.8% in July, the highest reading since January 2013. The trend pointed up as annual average inflation rose to 8.6% in July from 7.8% in June. Lastly, harmonized inflation rose from 11.6% in June to 12.5% in July; July’s reading marked the highest print since January 2013.

FocusEconomics panelists see inflation averaging 8.5% in 2022. In 2023, our panelists project inflation to average 4.8%.
